Which VT Reedle Shot Should You Buy? Every Reedle Shot Explained

Spicules are a somewhat controversial skincare technology used to deliver active ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin. You may know that some ingredients, such as traditional collagen, tend to remain on the skin’s surface. To improve penetration, companies use various technologies to reduce the size of ingredient molecules.

Spicules work similarly to microneedling, but instead of needles, they use microscopic, needle-like structures that are invisible to the naked eye. These tiny particles are either derived from marine sponges or synthesized from silica. As they create microchannels in the skin, they help active ingredients penetrate more effectively.

Spicule-based products are still relatively new, so it can be difficult to figure out where they fit into your skincare routine. In the OEB skincare step method, VT Reedle Shot is considered an active and is used as the third step of your routine. While this product is mostly popular among younger customers, VT is focused on mature skin and people in their 30s, 40s and above.

For mature skin, VT Reedle Shot isn’t about choosing the strongest treatment, it’s about choosing the version that best complements your skincare goals. Whether your priority is hydration, firmness, pigmentation, barrier repair, or well-aging, selecting the right Reedle Shot is far more important than simply moving up to a higher strength.

Can VT Reedle Shot Replace Microneedling?

VT Reedle Shot is certainly an innovative approach to improving the absorption of skincare ingredients. Using microscopic, needle-like particles to enhance the delivery of active ingredients is a clever concept. After all, the goal of any skincare routine is to make products as effective as possible. Many brands use different technologies to improve ingredient penetration – liposomes are among the most common, while others, such as Medicube, offer beauty devices designed to enhance the absorption of active ingredients. Given this, it’s no surprise that VT Reedle Shot has become so popular.

That said, VT Reedle Shot should not be considered a replacement for professional microneedling treatments. While both rely on tiny needle-like structures to improve ingredient delivery, professional microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen production and skin remodeling. Reedle Shot, on the other hand, is primarily designed to enhance the penetration of skincare ingredients.

One of the reasons technologies like Reedle Shot exist is that not every skincare ingredient can easily penetrate the skin. Molecules that are too large cannot pass through the skin barrier effectively, so various delivery systems are used to improve their absorption.

Within the OEB skincare step method, VT Reedle Shot belongs in step three – actives. Rather than replacing professional treatments, it works as a delivery-support technology that helps certain well-aging ingredients penetrate more effectively while still fitting comfortably into a consistent home skincare routine.

VT Reedle Shot safe to use?

Safety is one of the biggest concerns surrounding microspicules. When skincare brands first introduced this technology, there was very little research available. Since then, interest has grown rapidly, and more data has emerged. Like most skincare technologies, microspicules offer both potential benefits and drawbacks.

Microspicules can be longer than many people expect, and although brands often state that they are naturally shed along with dead skin cells, they should still be used with caution. They are not suitable for everyone. Avoid using VT Reedle Shot if your skin barrier is currently damaged, immediately after professional treatments, or alongside electronic skincare devices, strong exfoliating acids, or multiple active ingredients in the same routine. Keeping the rest of your skincare simple helps minimize unnecessary irritation. If you have sensitive skin or a compromised skin barrier, it’s best to avoid microspicule-based products until your skin is healthy again.

You should also exercise caution if your skin is prone to scarring or if you have an autoimmune condition. While research on long-term use is still evolving, avoiding microspicule-based products may be the safer choice in these situations.

If you decide to add VT Reedle Shot to your routine, remember that moderation is key. Use only a small amount and avoid applying it too frequently, especially when you’re just getting started. Rather than rubbing it in with pressure, gently spread the product over your skin to minimize irritation while still allowing the microspicules to do their job.

VT Reedle Shot can be a useful addition to a mature skincare routine, but it’s not an anti-aging treatment on its own. Its main purpose is to improve the penetration of active ingredients, allowing ingredients such as retinoids, peptides, and certain antioxidants to reach the skin more effectively. With several versions available, you can choose one that best matches your skin’s needs and concerns.

Which VT Reedle Shot Is Right for You?

The VT Reedle Shot series is extensive, offering a variety of treatments with different active ingredients. However, the core technology behind the entire line is Cica Reedle™ – a combination of silica particles and Centella Asiatica extract. These particles are approximately 15 μm in size, while the average pore size of the skin is around 200 μm. This delivery system is the foundation on which the entire Reedle Shot series is built.

Rather than thinking of the different Reedle Shot versions as stronger versus weaker, it’s more helpful to think of them as targeted treatments. Each formula combines the same Cica Reedle™ delivery technology with different active ingredients designed to address specific skin concerns.

With so many options available, finding the right Reedle Shot for your skin can be challenging. In this article, we’ll help you choose the ideal version based on your skin’s needs and concerns.

VT Reedle Shot 100

VT Reedle Shot 100 is the most classic and widely loved version in the Reedle Shot series. It combines the Cica Reedle™ delivery system powered by Centella Asiatica with the moisturizing Cicahyalon™ complex and amino acids that help support the skin barrier.

Lightweight gel-serum with a noticeable tingling sensation that absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy finish.

There are several versions of the classic Reedle Shot formula, each with a different level of intensity. VT Reedle Shot 100 is designed to be used twice a week as part of an evening routine. VT Mild Reedle Shot 50 offers a gentler approach and can be used more frequently, either daily or a few times a week, depending on your skin’s tolerance. However, even with the milder version, a patch test is recommended before regular use, especially for sensitive skin.

VT Reedle Shot 300 should also be used twice a week in the evening, but it provides a stronger tingling sensation compared to Reedle Shot 50 and 100.

VT Reedle Shot 700 is a much more intensive treatment and should typically be used only once a week. The sensation can be significantly stronger and may feel uncomfortable during application. The series also includes Reedle Shot 1000 and Reedle Shot 1300, which are focused more on texture improvement. Reedle Shot 1300 contains EGF, making it a product that may feel closer in concept to professional microneedling treatments. However, these stronger versions should not be used more often than once a week—or even every other week, depending on your skin’s tolerance.

Reedle Shot 1300 is also recommended more as a targeted treatment, applied directly to areas of concern such as wrinkles or blemishes rather than used all over the face.

Recommended for: Mature, normal, combination and oily skin types.

VT PDRN Reedle Shot 100

PDRN is one of the most popular skincare ingredients lately, so it’s no surprise that VT decided to combine the Cica Reedle™ delivery system with this ingredient. VT uses vegan-friendly PHYTO PDRN® Panax, a ginseng-derived PDRN that is considered one of the best vegan alternatives to salmon-derived PDRN.

Because it combines plant-derived PDRN with peptides, hyaluronic acid, and glutathione, this is one of the strongest well-aging formulas in the Reedle Shot collection for mature skin.

VT has also added 8 types of hyaluronic acid, 6 different peptides, and glutathione to this formula. This combination is designed to target concerns such as dehydration, loss of skin elasticity, and uneven pigmentation.

Similar to the classic Reedle Shot line, the PDRN version is available in several strengths: 100, 300, and 700. Reedle Shot 100 and 300 are recommended for use twice a week as part of an evening routine, while Reedle Shot 700 should be used once a week in the evening.

Recommended for: Mature skin types, especially those concerned with dehydration, loss of elasticity, fine lines, and uneven skin tone.

VT Reti-a Reedle Shot 100

Retinol is an ingredient that often comes with warnings about combining it with other actives, and while caution is important, it doesn’t mean it cannot be used alongside other technologies or ingredients. The key is to introduce it carefully, as retinol can easily cause irritation if your skin barrier is not prepared.

VT Reti-A Reedle Shot 100 combines the Cica Reedle™ delivery system with the moisturizing Cicahyalon™ complex and RETI-A Complex, which contains Retinol and Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate. The formula also includes bakuchiol, a gentler plant-based alternative to traditional retinol, as well as beta-carotene and polyphenols. Allantoin helps provide a soothing effect.

This version is available in three strengths: 100, 300, and 700.

Recommended for
: Normal, combination, and mature skin types looking to target fine lines, uneven texture, and early signs of aging. It is best suited for skin that already tolerates retinoids and may not be ideal for very sensitive or compromised skin barriers.

VT Red Booster Reedle Shot 100

Dragon’s Blood is an underrated skincare ingredient that deserves more attention. It is a source of polyphenols and catechins, which are known for their antioxidant properties and are used to help soothe and nourish the skin.

Similar to the previous versions, the key technologies in VT Red Booster Reedle Shot are Cica Reedle™ and Cicahyalon™, but this formula focuses more on antioxidant support and soothing benefits. It also contains Tocopherol, Panthenol, and Ceramide NP to help support the skin barrier, while Arbutin helps target the appearance of dark spots.

VT Red Booster Reedle Shot is available in three strengths: 100, 300, and 700.

Recommended for
:  Normal, dry, combination, and mature skin types, especially those concerned with dullness, uneven skin tone, sensitivity, and weakened skin barrier.

VT Black Truffle Reedle Shot 100

Truffles are often associated with premium quality, and VT Black Truffle Reedle Shot follows the same concept. The brand combines its key Reedle Shot technologies, Cica Reedle™ and Cicahyalon™, with luxurious ingredients such as 30,000 ppm of Italian Black Truffle Extract, white truffle extract, and high-purity 24K gold.

While these ingredients may sound exclusive, they are not entirely new to skincare, as both truffle extracts and gold have been used in luxury and anti-aging formulations for years. This version is designed for mature skin looking to focus on nourishment, hydration, and improving the appearance of elasticity.

This is VT’s most premium Reedle Shot formula, focusing more on nourishment and skin comfort than aggressive treatment. VT Black Truffle Reedle Shot is available in three versions: 100, 300, and 700.

Recommended for
:  Mature, dry, and normal skin types, especially those concerned with loss of elasticity, dryness, dullness, and skin needing extra nourishment.

VT Collagen Reedle Shot 100

Collagen is currently one of the most popular ingredients in both topical skincare and inner beauty products, so it’s no surprise that VT created a Reedle Shot version focused on this ingredient. The key ingredient in this formula is 500Da Collagen Extract. Its low molecular weight, combined with the Cica Reedle™ delivery system, is designed to help improve collagen delivery into the skin.

VT also added milk protein extract, collagen water, and vitamin E to support hydration, skin firmness, and overall nourishment.

This product can be a good choice if you want to begin an anti-aging skincare routine. It is available in three strengths: 100, 300, and 700.

Recommended for
:  Normal, dry, and mature skin types, especially those concerned with dryness, loss of firmness, fine lines, and early signs of aging.

VT Vita-light Reedle Shot 100

Dark spots can be frustrating, especially because some pigmentation sits deeper in the skin while other types are closer to the surface. While certain spots may fade more easily, deeper pigmentation often requires more targeted care. VT Vita-Light Reedle Shot 100 is designed to support this type of concern.

It combines Cica Reedle™ and Cicahyalon™ with Vitamin C, along with MELAZERO®V2, a brightening complex that uses an autophagy mechanism (a Nobel Prize-winning cellular process) to support a more even skin tone. The formula also contains 5% niacinamide and vitamin E, which work alongside vitamin C to provide antioxidant benefits. Glutathione adds another layer of antioxidant support and is often used in formulas targeting the appearance of pigmentation.

There are three versions available: 100, 300, and 700, allowing you to choose the intensity that best matches your skin’s needs and tolerance.

Recommended for
:  Normal, combination, and oily skin types, especially those concerned with dark spots, uneven skin tone, dullness, and post-acne marks.

VT Pro Cica Reedle Shot 100

While Centella Asiatica is already a key ingredient in the Reedle Shot series, VT decided to take it a step further by creating a formula that focuses even more on this calming ingredient. Cica DNA is a particularly interesting addition—a PDRN derived from Centella Asiatica.

The formula also features Cica Hualo-Gene, a technology that combines TECA, Cica DNA, and propolis extract. The inclusion of plant-derived exosomes follows the latest skincare trends, while Anzanyu extract adds additional soothing benefits.

This product is primarily focused on supporting the skin barrier, providing hydration, and helping calm stressed skin.

Recommended for: Sensitive, dry, and combination skin types, especially those concerned with dehydration, irritation, redness, and a weakened skin barrier.

VT Hydrop Reedle Shot 100hL

While every VT Reedle Shot product combines Cica Reedle™ and Cicahyalon™ to support skin hydration, VT Hydrop Reedle Shot 100hL is specifically designed to target dehydrated skin. VT uses an encapsulation system to deliver low molecular weight hyaluronic acid through HA-Nano Capsules, helping lock in moisture.

The formula also contains ectoin, a powerful soothing antioxidant that can be a valuable addition to a hydration-focused skincare routine. Ectoin is becoming one of the most respected barrier-support ingredients in premium skincare because it helps protect skin cells from environmental stress while improving moisture retention.

The “hL” in the name stands for hydration level, allowing you to choose between three different strengths: 100, 300, and 700.

Recommended for: Dry, dehydrated, and normal skin types.

VT Snail Reedle Shot 100B

VT Snail Reedle Shot 100B is probably one of the less popular versions in the VT Reedle Shot series. It combines the Reedle Shot technology with 21% green snail mucin, which helps provide soothing benefits and intensive hydration. The formula is enriched with 17 types of amino acids to support skin nourishment and balance the skin’s oil and moisture levels.

Recommended for: Normal, dry, and combination skin types.

VT Reedle Shot FAQs

Are spicules used in VT Reedle Shot series safe?

This topic is still controversial because spicules are a relatively new skincare technology. Although brands like VT claim that the spicules are naturally shed along with dead skin cells, they may not be suitable for everyone. If you have an autoimmune condition or sensitive skin, it’s best to be cautious when experimenting with spicule-based products. Likewise, if your skin barrier is compromised, focus on repairing it before introducing spicules into your routine instead of reaching for stronger treatments right away.

What is the difference between VT Reedle Shot 100, 300, and 700?

The main difference between VT Reedle Shot 100, 300, and 700 is the strength and intensity of the treatment. Reedle Shot 100 offers a milder experience, while Reedle Shot 300 and 700 provide a stronger sensation and may feel more intense during application.

The stronger versions should not be used too frequently. Reedle Shot 300 is typically used twice a week, while Reedle Shot 700 is designed for less frequent use, depending on your skin’s tolerance.

Can I combine VT Reedle Shot with devices or other actives?

It is not recommended to use VT Reedle Shot together with electronic skincare devices or other strong active ingredients. The Reedle Shot technology is already designed to enhance ingredient delivery and can be an intense treatment on its own, so adding more stimulation may increase the risk of irritation. Keeping your routine simple and focusing on hydration and barrier support is usually the best approach when using this type of product.

Which VT Reedle Shot is best?

The best VT Reedle Shot depends on your skin type and concerns. For mature skin, VT PDRN Reedle Shot, VT Red Booster Reedle Shot, and VT Black Truffle Reedle Shot are great options for supporting hydration, nourishment, and skin elasticity. VT Reti-A Reedle Shot can also be an interesting choice for experienced retinol users looking to target signs of aging.

VT Reedle Shot 100 is the classic and balanced option, making it a good starting point for those new to spicule-based skincare. For dry or dehydrated skin, VT Collagen Reedle Shot and VT Hydrop Reedle Shot are better choices, while oily skin may benefit more from the lightweight, balancing properties of VT Snail Reedle Shot.

If your main concern is pigmentation and uneven skin tone, VT Vita-Light Reedle Shot is the version to consider.
